It is pretty clear that diplomacy has is definitely a sore spot and something we will be getting too sooner rather than later. Bad AI functions may make the AI logic not work regardless of how well it is running. This is one of the reason why we have been hesitant to jump deep into AI fixes unless it is something obvious in the code because it could be AI logic or AI functions being different from player. A lot of the refactoring we have been doing has been focused on consolidating player and AI functions so that both are interacting with the game the same way. Sometimes that meant two functions and they act differently. ![]() Then as the AI was added it was grafted on top. The other issue we are running into is that the game was initially built from a player perspective. Despite them knowing how to expand, when they have no tech they couldn't. For instance AI research was getting overwritten after a number of turns resetting their techs to 0 and having them build up again. We are trying to sort through these things piece by piece as they come up. The issue that we are finding in the code is that there are times where either there is some bad logic or one place is overwriting the values of something else. Yes the AI "knows" how to do these things. ![]()
